My doctor did a poor job of explaining what I might expect to feel after I started this graduated regimen of Lialda. I am 60 and the only other prescription I take is gababentin as I had spine fusion (3 level) 3 years ago. I was on Pentasa for 2 weeks prior to starting Lialda.
I have been on Lialda since June of 2010. I started on 4 pills daily (1.2g of mesalamine per pill = 4.8g per day.) Taken every morning with breakfast. I recorded relief in the 1st week. I continued on that does until fall of this year. Having not had any further complications we have dropped my dosage to 2 pills daily (2.4g of mesalamine a day.) No recurrance to date.
This medicine gave me back sanity. More should try it before going the drastic measure of colon removal. IMO.
