i HAVE HEARD THAT PEOPLE ARE PUT ON PROLIA AFTER TRYING OTHER OSTEO MEDS THAT DID NOT WORK. HAS ANYONE TAKEN PROLIA AS A FIRST MEDICINE FOR OSTEOPOROSIS?
Here is what the FDA says Prolia is indicated for the treatment of postmenopausal women with osteoporosis at high risk for fracture, defined as a history of osteoporotic fracture, or multiple risk factors for fracture; or patients who have failed or are intolerant to other available osteoporosis therapy. In postmenopausal women with osteoporosis, Prolia reduces the incidence of vertebral, nonvertebral, and hip fractures
I was on Forteo for 1 1/2 years, and by the way, the company will provide it, if you can't afford it. After Forteo which worked the best of everything, I was then moved to Prolea. After 3 injections at my Dr Office, I have had no problems with it in anyway. I plan to stay on it as if I didn't I would have numerous foot fractures again. By the way, the only relief I have found for the foot pain is going to a Pain Dr and he put me on morphine patches. Now my feet don't hurt anymore and since Forteo, I have not had one fracture since... Do what you have to do, however it works for me.
