Has anyone tried or been prescribed the new Androgel 1.62% pump?

- androgel, hypogonadism - male, dosage
Any word on how well it works, or why anyone would want that instead of the traditional dosage?
The ads are all over male-dominated tv shows... hunting, sports, history, warfare, etc. They are making a big push to plant the image of Androgel 1.62 into the minds of older men seeking or using Androgel. Probably, this is to drive them to ask their doctor about this higher concentration pump. I just don't understand what the advantage is. I mean, "Less Gel"? Is that a real concern?
The company should be sued for misleading advertising. "As low as $10/month." As high as a million. 10? For who? When? What conditions? I wasted hours. Took "coupon" from the site to WalMart. Could not tell me how much, until I brought in a prescription. More wasted time- but got it. Took it back. $270 PER MONTH! ??? Are they NUTS? 2700%, over what they advertise. Screw them, and their product. I cannot WAIT until the patent expires, then you can get it at a reasonable cost. They are a giant rip-off, and their commercials are pure horse shit. I hope a legal firm jumps alll over this. And I hate legal firms. BUT- need to stop this kniod of blatantly false advertising.
I moved from 1% to the new 1.62% about a year ago. I was doing 4 pumps of the 1% when I started and that was fine... I then moved to the 1.62% and am now at 3 pumps. The one thing that changed in 2 years of using Androgel was the my condition of hypogonadism worsened (my testicles stopped producing all together) and this was the best dosage with working closely with my Dr. He checked my blood quite routinely to be sure of my correct dosage. One of the things he watches now is my estrogens level... they can indicate if you are getting too much Testosterone and it is going unused.
I found that Androgel is made is USA, Europe and MEXICO. Just look on the bottom flap on the box where it is imprinted) Abbie labs confirmed they can not control where a specific pharmacy buys the product. In Oregon I found three major pharmacies buy theirs from MEXICO. With all the drug cartel activity and the FDA is under manned I DO NOT want my medicine coming from Mexico.
I found the patch product is only made in USA. I found that Axiron (the under arm product) is made in northern Europe. So I will switch to them or to injection.
I am on my 4th week of treatment and do not really say that I can tell any big difference, other than I don't have to sleep 9-10 hours a night. Not sure how long it takes to realize any improvements. Thinking of changing Dr.s as I don't think there is a great level of communication, overall plan or discussion for therapy.
I had used the 1% didn't work. 1.62 is great except the cost is 562 per bottle. Is there anyone in Milwaukee who can suggest getting a better price?
Androgel 1. 62% is stronger, more concentrated than 1%. I was using 1% for years, three pumps per day, and my performance/endurance were poor. When I spoke to my doctor the 1. 62% had just come out, so he swithced me to the 1. 62%, big difference in my endurance and performance.
My Urologist just sent a Script into Express Scripts.. They tell me the cost of a 3 month supply is 1462.00 WTF??? My Doctor told me he tried to get the Generic Testosterone which is only 1% which is cheaper but Express Scripts formulary ONLY List the more Expensive Androgel. Pump.
Nothing he can do about it. These are listed as "controlled Substances" Can't afford nearly $500 a month... That is more then a Truck Payment. These Pharmacists and Drug Company Execs are Krazy...
Thought at the most it would be is $250 a month.. Then if you want Viagra on top of this Viagra is $60.00 a pill. Thats right $60. per pill. On top of what you pay for the testosterone.. So if your Diabetic ^& want a sex life these Drug Companies want to royally charge you about $600 a screw...
Can't pay these prices either Move to Canada or give up on Sex... This is full of SH_T the way these Drug companies do you and their are GENERIC Drugs out there TEVA makes one; but the Drug companies and their PBM Pharmacies won't sell it to you. BTW You can't use a Benefits Card on a Drug at Express Scripts either. You can onlyuse those benefits cards at a local Retailer like Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens etc... \
Thisis a F____ked system we have here in the States..
I was forced off Axiron by my insurance because they claim it was to expensive.
Oops. The problem with Androgel is where you apply it. Axiron goes on under the arms... soft thin skin, good blood flow. Androgel ... thicker skin.
To get the same results, I end up taking 4 pumps of Androgel, rather than two Axiron.
My latest three month supply would have been $3989!!! I'm sure my employer is overjoyed... my copay is $70.
