I also get really bad headaches and migraines, but am worried about the side effects and the possibility of being addicted.
Well I would be worried tOo! I'm on methadone for addiction and although I'm not running the streets, and have a roof over my head. Sometimes I'd rather be dead! I sweat like a pig! Haven't had sex in like 2 years kuz it killed my drive. I sleep 20 hours a day. Gained 90lbs and wish I never started it! I was as high as 75mg but came down to 50 over 2 months and the side effects seem to have stayed the same!
I take Methadone for chrontic pain as that is all my pain clinic will prescribe. That or long acting (extended release) like Embeda, or Ms Contin. Said they can't prescribe 4 to 6 hours pain meds like Vicodin because the Feds are down on them! I tried to wean myself down on the Methdone, because I didn't like the way it made me so sleepy, & groggy all the time, but was allergic to Morphine & was told Methadone is all they would give me. Guess I live in the wrong area of the country as I hear of lots of people getting all kinds of different drugs for their pain. I made the mistake of telling them about how it made me so sleepy I was falling aleep at red light, & they dropped my dose to 20mg a day! It's just not cutting it with the pain I have. For Fibromyalgia, there are other drugs than Methadone. Lyrica, Cymbalta, gabepentin, antidepressants to take at bedtime etc... I don't believe Methadone is going to help Fibromyalgia at all.
I have that too & it hasn't helped even at 50mg a day. I'm about to give up on the pain clinics myself, & go see my GP. I had what they thought was a liver problem 11 years ago (which turned out to be something else) so they didn't want me on Vicodin anymore for pain. Well, now that problem has been resolved since 2006 I would think they would give me something that actually helps, but no. Anyway, I was down to 10mg. a day & was doing good as far as side effects, but they put me on 20mg aday, and I'm tried & sleepy again. Don't know if this helps with your question, just my experience with Methadone. I didn't have an addiction problem at all, just all I could take at the time, & now they won't let me off of it.
Well, if you're worried about being addicted, if you continue to take it, you will be. Pretty simple as it's a powerful Opioid. I also take methadone for fibro pain, and luckily I haven't had any adverse reactions to it. I guess it really is just one of those things where everyone reacts differently to different meds!
Good luck to you!
