I was given a breathing med (Albuterol) to place in my nebulizer to do a three times a day breathing treatment. Recently my pulmonologist gave me Spiriva to take which is a once a day inhaler. This is not doing the trick because I have problems breating at night. I want to use my nebulizer with the original medication given to me before bedtime and still continue using the Spiriva. I developed COPD recently. I am having chemotherapy for Ovarian cancer and this has caused the exacerbation of COPD
I've seen people use both, but your dr should be consulted. Did he tell you you can't take it if you needed it?
I have used both at the same time but not on a continued basis. Usually only use albuterol with a nebulizer when I have a chest cold or bronchitis. But should talk with your doctor, may be fine for you while you are going through other medical conditions. Hope this helps. I do use my albuterol inhaler as a rescue inhaler periodically.
I have COPD and I am taking Spiriva 1x daily, Symbicort 2x daily, Ventolin when needed (rare). I also use oxygen when needed. I follow my doctor's instructions and this works well for me.
