I've been a heavy drinker for nearly 30 years, and I'm getting worse. Lots of different health issues, heart, weight, diabetes, cholesterol, anxiety. I'm really struggling to stop drinking, every night, 7 days a week.
Did anyone use anything to stop drinking and then went onto Campral. How long between stopping drinking and starting Campral?
Can anyone tell me the length of abstinence from alcohol I need, before starting Campral?

I've tried Campral; it sent me slightly hypomanic. I was a daily drunk for about 28 years but managed to finally quit in just 3 weeks with just a little Diazepam (15 years to make the decision). I wouldn't say it was easy, but I won't say it was hard either. The following six months were pretty tedious where I would find myself in a bottle shop without knowing quite why. I passed the three year mark on 7/23/2016.
I would say you can start immediately; it will not make you sick like Antabuse.
Best of luck, there is a better, happier person hiding behind the alcohol.
Steve.
