White oblong pill with mylan 1155 imprinted. Anyone know what this is?
Hi. Drugs.com has a site called Pill Finder. You put in the imprint, the color
and the shape and Pill Finder will look it up for you. I tried to find it for you, but was told Mylan has no 1155. Are you sure about the numbers? You can go there anyway, put in the name, color and shape and see if Mylan has a pill that resembles it. I hope this helps.
Mylan 1155 is Darvocet-N 100. It is a mild narcotic pain reliever. The film-coated
oval oblong white tablet with MYLAN written on one side and 1155 written
on the other side contains Acetaminophen 650mg and Propoxyphene Napsylate 100mg (just like in Mylan 155).
It is in the family of pain relievers, analgetics, anti-inflammatory drugs and fever reducers.
Propoxyphene (or dextropropoxyphene) belongs to opioids. The other well-known and widely used drug in that group is codeine. Both can cause dependancy when abused and in patients addicted to opioids. However, propoxyphene is considered to be a rather weak opioid, relatively "safe" in comparison to the other ones in the group. It does not usually affect mind condition of the patients much, at the same time being effective in alleviating physical withdrawal effects (muscle cramps, etc).
Acetaminophen is a milder pain reliever and a fever reducer that increases the effects of propoxyphene.
In Mylan 1155 Darvocet-N, Napsylate salt of Propoxyphene is used in the formulation. There can be found a different formulation of Darvocet - with Propoxyphene Hydrochloride (or dextropropoxyphene HCl), such as Mylan 130. Due to the fact that these salts have different molecular masses, the amount of Propoxyphene in both formulations is the same, though Mylan 1155 contains 100mg of Propoxyphene (Napsylate) and Mylan 130 - only 65mg of Propoxyphene (Hydrochloride). Propoxyphene Napsylate is claimed to have less risk of abuse, as this salt is almost insoluble in water and, as a result, it cannot be injected. Moreover, Propoxyphene Napsylate gives lower peak blood level.
CAUTION: You may take up to 1000mg of Acetaminophen at a time or up to 4000mg during the day. Larger doses are dangerously harmful for the liver. That means you should not take more than one Mylan 1155 pill at a time, or six Mylan 1155 pills during the day.
