I had the burning pain in my neck and shoulders ever since cervical spine surgery in 2007 which kicked my fibro in full gear. I take a narcotic pain med for the overall pain but it never did anything for the burning pain. I tried Lyrica and it didn't work. I had been on Cymbalta for some time and it never helped this pain. A few months ago I began seeing a pain mgmt specialist who put me on Keppra and within two days the burning pain was gone. I have been so grateful. I'm not sure about side effects with it being used off label for pain
I have never heard of that. I'm so glad you found something to help you. I will keep it in mind tho. I get a burning pain between my shoulder blades that almost stops me cold sometimes. Does it do anything for your other fibro pain?
I have never heard of this drug used for fibromyalgia before, but hey if it works why not? I am giving you the link to the prescribing info for you to read below. I wish you the best... Mary
I just wanted to thank you for sharing this info, you may have helped many people by posting this info.
Have a great day,
THANKS for this information. It may help not only my fibromyalgia, but I also suffer from myoclonus which is also helped by this medication. Next doctor appointment, I will ask about it.
That is so interesting!! Thank you for sharing this. The pain & burning you describe after cervical spine surgery describes me to a T. I am going to ask my MD about it. Interestingly, my husband takes Keppra for a temporal lobe seizure disorder which was caused from scar tissue on his brain after being hit as a pedestrian by a car. (We are quite the pair!) He has been on it for around 5 1/2 years with only slight sedation as far as side effects go- he was very sedated when he first started taking it. It hasn't helped with his neuropathy & lower back pain. He could not tolerate Lyrica & gets sick from pain meds since he is so sensitive to meds. I'm on Lyrica which helps me with alot of the fibro sensitive areas but I'm pretty much in pain all the time so I'm interested in looking into Keppra as a possibility for me. Please keep us updated with your experience on it. Thank you again!!
