I've been on Duragesic since 2005, I started at 25MG every 72 hours but as pain got worse(so I thought) and my body demanding more, I went to 150MG every 48 hours, I've since weaned down to 75MG every 48 hours with the help of my new pain management doctor but as I tried to go to 50MG every 48 hours, I hit withdrawal around 30 hours, now I'm back on 75MG but I'm still experiencing the same symptoms, any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to get off it all together, ty.
Hello I completely understand what you are gong through. I had previously taken Duragesic since April 1997 - Oct 2015 not by choice I was forced to withdraw completely off all medications due to problems with my Work Comp. I started on 25mcg all the way to 150mcg every 48hrs as well as other pain meds for nerve damage and muscle pain so I am very sympathetic...
Switching up and down or stopping is not only dangerous but very painful if you haven't been through it you will never get it so Im hoping you get taken car of this should not be a habit but if this does happen you will need to consult your doctor and let him know what happened and that you feel like your patch isn't working... Imagine being on such strong pain medication but still feeling the pain almost constantly now imagine that same senerio without medication for anyone that doesn't get it...
Yes extreme heat from weather, water, or even body heat can and most likely will suck the life outta your patch kinda like a battery being drained. You've got to be careful not to expose the part of your body that you have your patch on to direct sun or heat of any kind because this will cause your patch to release the Duragesic at a heavier dose during these times thus making it work less when you need it later or even making it to where your body no longer feels relief with the dose you are on because your Fentanyl was releasing at a higher dose for that time being that you were exposed to the sun.. Causing you to feel like your patch isn't working or even feeling a withdrawal... Just to let you know even-though some doctors or companies will say different to push certain brands there is a Very Big Difference in Brand Name verses Generic I found this out the hard way where my Comp Dr would specifically ask for Brand Name only... I hope this Helps and Wish you The Best...
