My son is just 6 he has a motor tic he sits on his hands to try and stop himself he really doesn't want to hit himself any ideas on help as he has reall hurt his neck
I have Tourette's syndrome as well and I have actually broken a few teeth this way. The best thing you can do , in my opinion , is to get him on some medicine to help with the tic's. I'm on clonidine and it has actually helped me greatly. It's more of a sedative than anything , but you can adjust the dose if the affects are too strong. A good neurologist is very helpful here.
Also , distraction seems to help me just a little bit. The biggest thing is , don't try to make him stop. Just let him do it. Trust me , if you try to stop it , it will build up and be much worse. You can take that from me.
