I recently saw a commercial in NYC about a class action lawsuit against Janumet. I'm not sure if long term use of Janumet could cause pancreatic cancer or any other condition.
First off, almost every new drug for diabetes 2 has lawsuits, if you believe these lawyers. They want you to sue for everything. That is one reason medicine is so expensive. Its not the metformin in the janumet that is the problem, but the other med, which works by suppressing an enzyme in the pancrease, thus increasing the production of insulin. Apparently they feel this causes cancer. I don't know if its an east coast thing or what, but we are inundated with commercials to sue for this drug or that. I even get computerized phone calls from lawyers telling me to sue for them.
Hello Everyone, I am a 28 year old female whose mother just passed away from pancreatic cancer about 1.5 months ago. My mother was actively taking Janumet, since 2010 till she passed. We just recently saw the commercial as well. She started the Medicine in Jan of 2010 and was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in December 2010. I just don't understand why her doctors didn't tell her to stop taking the medicine. We are going to contact a lawyer this week.
