I've never been on any type of antidepressant and just started this for postpartum depression. I think I have a mild form of depression, and I know it takes a bit of time to take effect but so far I have not noticed anything. I am only on day 4.
Hi, kateek! It entirely depends on how quickly you reach a theraputic level of the drug in your bloodstream and that differs in every individual. Some people may feel effects within just a few weeks, but at least 4wks, sometimes 6-8wks is normal.
Especially with the XL formulation, which slowly releases small amounts of the drug at a time, you aren't going to suddenly get hit over the head with happiness. Watch for subtle changes ~ lifting mood, more energy, more interest in daily doings, less fatigue.
You're now taking a maintenance dosage so you and your body have time to adjust. If after a few more weeks you're not seeing positive changes you and your doctor might elect to increase your dose; 300mg daily is a standard maintenance dose.
Good luck and if you have any questions along the way, alway feel free to post them here! WCV
