I tried to ask this question a few days ago and I put in all of my drug info and the question disappeared. I don't know why but I need help with this. I have been on Fentanyl for 3 years, The dosages have changed and yes I know I must be tolerant to it. I have been in agony for 2 1/2 months with the pain. Could someone please explain this better to me. The doctor just added benzos and I will not take them because it interacts with other meds and all I want to do is just quit. I would really appreciate any input.
Has anyone had Fentanyl quit working?

- pain, fentanyl, chronic pain, dos, drug
Your system builds a tolerance faster to Fentanyl due to the steady 24/7 delivery. Most oral, and other methods of pain meds have up/down cycles measured in hours, so the blood serum levels in your system fluxuate regularly. This slows down tolerance buildup. This only happens about every 72hrs with the patch change for Fentanyl, so tolerance builds faster. But 1-2 dosage increases per yr is normal. I agree about the Fentanyl and benzos, very dangerous mix. Dosage drawdown for Fentanyl is extremely uncomfortable and requires management by medical professionals if possible, to provide comfort meds. If that is not possible, emergency methods are available online. Good luck. personal messaging system here is greatly lacking. I tried several times?
