Is there anyone who had to try many medications before finding one to really help with their symptoms of depression anxiety PTSD OCD extreme fear etc how did you feel when the medication started to work? Please let me know
I have tried so many different meds in the last 6 months it is getting crazy and I have to look at my list to remember what they all were. But there has to be some med that will help so I don't give up and neither should you.
I find that I feel more relaxed when a med starts to work. I find that my hubbie usually notices the improvement before I do.
Hang in there, it will get better. Just remember if a med works a bit so the doctor increases your dose then it will take time to build up and start working better.
Yes, it took me along time to find the right cocktail of meds to alleviate my depression and anxiety. Some medicines worked, then stopped working, and now work again even. I have been at this for 40 yrs and fortunately there have been many new meds that have been released over this time so have had many to choose from. It is an ordeal, but well worth the journey once the symptoms begin to subside.
You are not alone. I have fear, anxiety, severe depression, post traumatic stress ect.. I have been on so many medications and none have helped. Plus, I only had one family member who actually loved me unconditionally and didn't think I was just a mess and she recently passed away. So now I'm in this struggle alone. My family doesn't believe in depression or taking medication. They think you can just snap out of it. So I'm all alone this. I just started two new medications yesterday. I am praying they help. Ill say a prayer for u too. Are you on any meds now? If so have they helped at all? I just started buspar and lamictal. I'm also taking viibryd and Valium. I hate having to wait so long to see if they work. Sorry if I wasn't much help. I did take geodon and Neurontin and they helped a little but I had bad weight gain taking them.
So I'm hoping the weight will come off and have the medications help and just feel better about life. I wish you the best of luck.
I was hospitalized for 6 months and had a psychotic episode with a major depression the docs found that manerix and lithium worked for me. I have had no reocurence since this happened in 2007. I am with my family having a normal life once again. Life is great right now! Now I seem to be surrounded by a few friends going through depressions themselves I can help.
Hope you find the right meds for yourself soon!
As I said many of times meds r trial and error most have tried several meds at least the 100's I was in mh groups with before they found the right combo to treat all of these symptoms..you won't be any different hun..you just have to hang in there till the doc finds the right combo and dosage for you, r you not still getting relief after the dosage uppage and add on...
Yes, I felt the same exact way. Finding the right med/s, specifically with anti depressants is a long, tedious game of trial and error. It can be very frustrating at times.
My personal experience was the negative reactions would hit me immediately, such as with paxil. I would stick it out for a few weeks unless you have negative reactions then decide. But I also had issues arise with a drug after taking it for several years, so it seems it never ends. But it does get better, and easier to deal with. That feeling of desperation will subside and you will be "you" again. Have faith and try to learn coping skills as best you can that don't rrequire medicines to work.
Hang in there!
