I take 375 mg per day suffering terribly from constipation
Hi benziong: I have been taking Lyrica 400 mg per day for about two years and yes, the constipation is terrible. And it was even worse when I was on 600 mg per day. (I had to reduce it back to 400 because of the cognitive issues it caused. And quite honestly, I don't really think it does much for my pain issues. I'd like to get off it but my doctor feels strongly that it is helping a lot more than I realize and that getting off it (slowly titrating down, of course) would be a mistake.)
Have you spoken to your doctor about laxatives that are designed for people with constipation caused by meds? I tried Amitiza but since it didn't work very well for me I decided not to try another. Quite frankly, every three or so days I take double the max Dulcolax dose, 6 tabs at bedtime instead of 3. This usually works fairly well. Sometimes too well and sometimes not well enough. Also, I tried Metamucil but ironically found it extremely constipating. So go figure.
Sorry to blather on. I just wanted to let you know that someone else "feels your pain."
