I can't stand the smell of food - everything smells the same. Most everything tastes the same way. I'm not eating cause I can't stand the smell! I hope this goes away!
I had an Acute Myocardial Infarction or AMI, I don't know if it was due to Plavix but I lose all smell and taste of food. My doctor said it would return but after four months I was given zinc for 28 days only, taste buds came back for a short time but they now come and go. This has been going on for two years now and the doctor feels that this is the best they can do and said that I can't be given any more zinc.
Very interesting! Does anyone out there have an answer to this? My doctor has told me also that he has had no complaints about the food smelling and tasting different. I am trying to force myself to eat because of too much weight loss (also partially because of dental problems) but it is really hard when food tastes so bad. Besides the Plavix, I am on Lisinopril, Simvastatin, and 80mg of aspirin. Is it the Plavix that's causing this?
I can taste the stuff on my sweat and even on my exhaled breath. I know it's the Plavix (clopidogrel) because the smell is the same as the awful smell from the pill bottle.
God, it's been 7 weeks now and I don't know how much longer I can bear this stuff.
