I started taking cymbalta about three weeks ago and I wake up feeling so sick everyday. The sick feeling in my stomach comes and goes all day and I have no energy unless I take my pain meds. Anyone have a thought on this ?
I'm wondering how much Cymbalta you're taking because IMO docs put people on too much. About 7 yrs ago my doc gave me Cymbalta for severe depression. He wanted me to take 30 mg once or twice a day but since I didn't like the side effects I heard of I insisted on the 20 mg capsule. He didn't even know it came in 20 mg caps but it does. It helped the depression in 5 days so I stayed on it awhile. If I remember right most people feel very warm from it, as I did, and less people feel cold. That should pass. However, it did make me so tired I slept about 16 hrs a day. The fatigue was so bad I couldn't go to work on a normal schedule. This was why after about 8 months I had to stop taking it but it had helped the depression and so I went back to work.
But here's the good thing. Back then they didn't know it could kill pain. I have some back problems including arthritis. After about 4 months of taking I totally forgot I normally have back pains. All the back pain was gone as if I had a new spine. It truly amazed me because I could do things I hadn't been able to do before, such as stay bent over to work in the engine compartment of a car. But the sleepiness and fatigue never went away and that was why I had to stop taking it. When I did quit it I slowly weaned off so that I didn't have any withdrawal problems.
Since back then I've heard of some docs putting people on as high as 100 mg 3 times a day. I think that's nuts. I'm a firm believer in taking the least amount of any drug necessary. So this was my experience.
