I'm 23 had a c-section with my daughter then got diagnosed with postpartum cardiomyopathy.
well I'm sure this freaked you out completely, as it did me as well. I was also diagnosed with this when I passed out while having my third c section in march of 2011. they realized my heart was only functioning at 35%. I had an amazing doctor who really explained this though, and stressed that though I was lucky to make it through that c section not to have any more babies. I had to take two heart meds twice a day for two years, really watch your sodium intake ask your doctor how much is a safe intake level for your heart. down water A LOT and you can't stress. I had got really stressed at one point and my heart function went down to 25% and I was having such bad heart pains, 20% function is a heart transplant. so after that I worked out and walked and lost 35lbs and my heart function went up to 55% and I was able to stop all meds. but now I'm on a new seizure medication that I believe is giving me another cardiomyopathy by bp is high a lot and I have that same squeezing feeling again that hurts bad. but postpartum cardiomyopathy is one of the only heart problems that does go away just takes some time, so have faith, and keep yourself healthy as possible. also I breastfed my baby while taking both meds my doctor and pediatrician worked together to find safe meds that wouldn't hurt going through the milk. sorry so long, I just had no one else to give me info on
this when it happened and I was lost so I hope it helps!
