Dealing with the problems of menopause. Depression hit me hard. Anyone else experience this?
Depression and anxiety hit me hard when I hit menopause. It was awful, I didn't think I'd ever get out of it but I did. Put me on Prozac and it took
probably 6 weeks to kick in. I also went to the hospital, out patient, which did absolutely no good ... I spent the day crying. I found a counselor who did me a lot of help. Have had set backs since then but it was my first.
I had depression and anxiety hit me hard during menopause. I was one edge and had night/day sweats and felt like I was coming unglued. The meds they can use to treat menopause symptoms (some antidepressants) can make the menopause symtoms worst, but may help the longer you are on the med (4-8 weeks). I can only suggest to not let your depression go on too long. Why suffer when you do not have to? There are many meds out there to help with depression/meopause. You can research them through this web site or others.
Hope you find something that works for you :)
