How do you get relief from it? Do the antidepressants that you are given for depression help with this problem?
It's kind of like the chicken and the egg analogy.
You can't help have some degree of depression with a chronic illness.
They usually are occurring simultaneously if the depression was not a contributing factor.
If depression was a big issue, you probably would have noticed it.
My doctor would never know which one of me would be showing up for a visit. Lol...
If the symptoms were overwhelming, I would look depressed and a flat affect.
It was due to uncontrolled pain and insomnia for months. I couldn't convince anyone I wasn't depressed.
If the symptoms were under control, I'd be happy and smiling but with no energy.
Imagine having 10 Expressos without ANY surge of adrenaline !
I tell them :
- I'm the happiest depressed person around!
If I wasn't anxious / depressed I'd have to be crazy !
I had a sudden break in the CFS one day. I woke up and just got out of bed!
I was so incredibly happy after 7 years of being in a Cement bath. It takes me hours of mentally trying to get up before I can.
I never was so happy to be doing housework. Brain fog - I couldn't even remember how to turn on the vacuum.
My kids said...
Look! Mom is vertical!
It lasted about 2 weeks. I was cleaning and singing. It was obvious to me that I wasn't depressed.
It's hard to control yourself, as a warning, to be careful not to overdue it. It makes the CFS worse. However, you never know when you will be able to get up again so you do as much as you can with the time you have.
I'm good with energy conservation techniques if anyone has specific questions.
Be well, my friend.
Hello, depression can leave you with so many symptoms, just as most don't know that they are suffering from depression. Each of us have different reasons for getting depression, most have a trauma in life that one can't get on top of and days can turn to weeks, or monthes to face that some thing is not right in their life. These people can suffer alone, pretending that they are okay, thus taking along time to get help, especially if they have no support. Others like me can find themselves at a doctor's and being given medication without even asking what's wrong. Thankfully I hope this is in the past. Chronic fatique can come from being so depressed one has no strength to cope, sleeps or sits around having no energy to eat, do house work, go out with family, friends etc. And especially having no exercise. Going outside to get some sunshine or even to feel the weather. Just to hold a book up, became pain for me. I do not know of any ready fix, but I do know that starting to eat food with vitamins will help. For me "noni juice" helped. I started walking with car following, and did better each day. Having support from your doctor, who needs to know the truth of how you feel & hopefully can give better advice to better medication; and to support is a must. If not family and friends, look up local comnunity facilities. Meditation class, art, singing. If it's new to you, better still, it will get the brain working. Love & blessings for a well you
