I have been reading all the posts, and several have stated that they have gone from needing a wheel chair to walking with a cane. My mother has had MS since 1989 and is confined to a wheel chair... I have been looking into new meds for her, however her Neurologist told me that Ampyra is a good medicine however the FDA will not allow it to be prescribed to anyone that cannot walk as walking is the only measure of how it works... is this true? Or have you been prescribed this medication while unable to walk?
Hi, I'm new here, but I know someone that was (mostly) wheelchair bound and he was prescribed ampyra, and he is walking, but very very carefully now, with the assistance of a cane, or someone to lean on.
Good luck to you and your mother, hope she feels better soon and her doctor prescribes ampyra for her.
