I took paxil 3 yrs ago and I can't remember having any problems with it I only took it for a couple of months. For anxiety. summer of 2014 I had a really bad panic attack and I kept having them so I went to the doctor and they gave me Celexa I had a adverse drug reaction and I have been scared of medicine every sense. I thought I was dying. They have me 20 mg and the 1 pill was enough to put me in ER the next day. I decided if I have to take meds it will be lowest dose possible
The ER? Wow, why? The post is not clear; what are you prescribed now and at what dose? Do you have the same Dr now as you did when the ER thing occurred? If so what did he/she have to say about that incident? If not, what did the current Dr have to say about it?
I have to put in that it's odd you had an adverse reaction to celexa. It's generally well tolerated. I've personally had adverse reactions to zoloft and Effexor. (Effexor essentially made me a paranoid schitzophrenic trapped in my head.) Some people are just sensitive to certain medications.
Have you talked to your doctor about ativan instead of an SSRI? It's a very mild benzodiazapine. Hydroxyzine is also an option, but speak to your doctor about your sensitive nature first. Hydroxyzine isn't a benzodiazapine but an antihistamine that also acts as an anti anxiety medication.
I don't have depression but was treated for it multiple times and formally diagnosed with it until this past year. The theory is that if you're having anxiety or panic attacks, you're depressed and treating the depression will make the anxiety and panic attacks go away. A medication specific to panic attack treatment may do you some good. Ativan can be taken as needed. I used to take one in the morning then as needed (as per my doctor) and the initial dose often lowered my anxiety enough I had very few panic attacks.
Hi im sorry that happened to you. I was the same situation because i didnt want to take pills and were scared to. I let my anxiety and panic go for 4 months without pills and i reached the lowest of the low got super depressed had 20 panic attacks everyday. Was off of work for 2 months and never left my house. I am now on 10 mg of prozac and it has worked wonders. I have not had a panic attack for 4 weeks and my anxiety has greatly lessened. I recommened you try others and take them in the morning. So you dont notice a big change if it were to make you feel different. Dont let it go like i did and waste your life living in fear. It is hard but we are here for support and want you to feel the best you can.
