Any suggestions for how to break a fairly severe 'pain cycle'?
I take NORCO 10/325, 6 times a day (loosely 'scheduled') to take the edge of the pain (which it barely does these days),
Zolpidem/Ambian for sleep,
Atarax for sleep,
Neurontin for pain 'relief' during the night, and supportive supplements (not to forget my trust KOMBUCHA drink). Oh, and
Cymbalta & WellbutrinXL (for pain & the associated depression). Whew!
More NORCO and more Neurontin do NOT help after a certain point. [I've added Midrin (migraine medicine) when the migraine gets out of control (I'd be on it always if I wasn't 'selective' with it), but it is rarely helpful the past few months.]
Any suggestions for
1. a temporary adjunct pain medication, or
2. a more effective pain regimen?
To be honest, I've felt, on occasion, a bit desperate these last few days of this 'flare'. (Kind of like when I was in labor & the contractions were 'on top of each other' with no 'break' at all).
grateful for Him who is Rock, Fortress, and Might,
I am new to Drugs.com but you question was ringing bells for me... This is what works for me and that is all I can offer maybe it will help you if your still here or someone else.
I take a Narcotic for pain 4 x a day not to exceed 5 tablets a day. I WAS on Cymbalta and was recently switched to SAVELLA. Cymbalta had absolutely no effect what so ever. I could not get out of bed many days. My Internal Medicine Doctor told me he has seen miracles with Savella. Well the first dose, I was up and cleaning the house. I am so ready to go back to work... I was on the verge of having to quit my job as a correctional officer because I have been off sick for the past 5 of 6 months. Disability was something my PM started discussing with me.
I do have Insomnia and use Ambien - I also have Graves Disease but it is in remission right now. So I need a sledge hammer up against my head to go to sleep most of the time..with Savella I am sleeping better, have more energy, my attitude is positive and I am ready to go to work after 10 days of use... My pain is there but I can manage it with short breaks from activity and excuse the term for the lack of a better one here..Avoiding "Balls to the Wall" types of activity as it is not conducive with keeping pain score down. I may have to ask for a position change at work but I am taking baby steps..
I wanted to share my experience with you since you find yourself not responding to Cymbalta...
I hope this helps someone...
