i went to the er dismorning and asked to speak with a counseler and she referred me to go to a intensive outpatient program tom im scared
Reaching out for help, especially when it comes to our mental health, can be a scary thing to do. But you obviously don"t want to keep living this way. Take advantage of what your medical system has to offer you, if that includes an intensive outpatient program, make the best of it. You may not agree or like everything that is said, but take away what is useful to you and leave the rest. This program should also get you set up with a doctor and a counselor for ongoing treatment. This too will be very helpful. Try to look at this as an adventure into helping yourself, a path of discovery. I think you"ll find it isn't as bad as as we imagine.
I am also in your shoes so you are not alone. I went to an Urgent Care because of anxiety I thought I was dying.I think your fortunate to have an Outpatient program available to you.I live in a very small town and unfortunately don't have that type program available to me.I also don't sleep because the anxiety is so intense, do your muscles hurt from being tense and your jaw feel sore? Maybe we can help each other as we deal with our anxiety it sounds like we are going through much of the same experiences.
I completely understand how you are feeling. I also suffer anxiety and to make it worse I have agoraphobia which makes me never want to leave my room. If you can get the help being offered just go for it. Fear can be healthy if you think of it like this
If it is keeping you awake at night it probably is something you need to talk it out. If it persists ask your Dr if melatonin is ok for you to help sleep. Sometimes we just have to break the cycle and a few good nights sleep can help calm your anxiety.
Also don't worry if the first counsellor you see makes you uncomfortable Sometimes you have to see two or three until you find one that is right for you.
If you can get through this without medication the better off you are because medication is a bandaide it never really helps you deal with the actual problem. It only masks it so that you never quite deal with the thing giving you anxiety. Sometimes you just have to talk it out. Maybe even talk it out here you would be surprised how many of us are going through the same thing. Believe it or not there is comfort knowing you are not alone. Keep us posted or if you like write a little more. Sometimes writing things down helps clear them out also
