I've controlled my anxiety with Lexapro, 10mg/day and an occasional Xanax pill. Just recently, when I'm keyed up, I tend to develop a breathing obsession disorder: think that I have to monitor breathing. When I'm relaxed, I don't think about breathing. My dr put me on Lorazepam, .5/mg/3times day. Due to its addicting state that I read, I want to get off immediately. I was going to try Lexapro, 20mg/day and Xanax as needed. Any advice would really be appreciated!!
i've been on ativan (lorazepam) for over 10 years yes maybe l'm addicted to this miracle drug but it has allowed me to be able to live in this world of rather condemning soles it allowed me to work, raise my family, stay married, cross bridges's, and any other things that made me anxious, yes and i do breathing exercises to calm myself i'm sorry if i'm coming across harsh this morning but if you have a problem with GAD you probably need meds and if you have a good doctor and one you can trust take the meds if you feel better stop then see how you feel if your not better guess what take the the meds it's easier than living feeling anxious about everyone and everything you do. there are days when you may only need small doses and there maybe times in your life (crisis's) when more maybe needed but that's why you find a good doctor and stay with them . if anyone reads all this thanks if you agree fine if not that's alright too we all have bad days.missy
Ativan and Xanax are both addictive. Both in the same class of drugs. I have taken both. Xanax works faster for a shorter period of time. Ativan takes a bit longer to kick in, but it works a bit longer as well. Ativan always worked best for my anxiety. If you are taking either drug as directed, you will be fine.
