... for about 2 weeks or so. So, all in all, I have been on an SSRI for about 3 months. I have good days and bad days. . but the bad days are pretty bad. I've come a long way, but I am starting to worry that I will never be 100%. Am I giving up too early? How long does it take for the Viibryd to really kick in?
Hi lookingforpeace, sorry that you feel so bad, it can take anywhere from 4-6 wks for these type meds to reach peek effectiveness... it does take a long time for us to start to feel better, sometimes we have to try even more meds until we get the cocktail that is right for us. My bad day's still come too and I've been on antidepressant's , mood staberlizers, benzo's sleeping pills, pain meds etc, since 2000. so don't give up hang in there it will get better. You are still on low doses too. take care I wish you all the best,
Hi Looking there really is no set time but your at least 1/2 way there please don't give up I don't know of a person that being patient and giving the doctor time its sadly a trial and error of finding the right medication for you.I have been there and now thank god for the right combination of meds i feel great these days i won't lie i do have bad days but don't we all.Stay positive.I know its a long time when we are not doing well stick with it 6 to 8 weeks is now the most comman answer for getting a good blood level however most start feeling abit better at different times during treatment You can ask the doctor if this is the only thing your taking and see if there is anything you can take on the really bad days but keep at it think positive and know many people are in your corner abouve all don't give up..a 40 plus year surviver of this junk..Yes you well get to feeling lots better even if it is not this medication they well get one..trust me and keep plugging maybe read some books on this or other things and keep thinking positive..Chuck1957...
Chuck is correct. I've been on antidepressants a long time. I've learned that I am not going to have every day be good no matter what. There are the days I'm down, but I know they will go away. Do not give up ever. There are other things you can do that help. For me its go out and take a walk. That fresh air and sunshine does allot for me. And smile as much as you can. Smiling actually does make you feel better. If I was in a foul mood at work, I'd go around smiling constantly, people would ask what I was smiling about. But it got me out of that mood. I'd give the viibryd a few more months before I decided to give up and try something else. Its helping you.

I'm switching from Zoloft to Viibryd & having more anxiety. Is this a normal part of switching SSRI?
