... feeling hopeless
Don't feel hopeless, it gets better, it really does. Welbutrin is a good drug for many people. It is prescribed with a combination of drugs, or by itself. Have you been on it long? It can take a few Weeks to reach a therapeutic level.
Anxiety is the cause of dissociation. Many people experience dissociation and depersonalization from extreme anxiety. Patients with Generalized Anxiety Disorder can relate with this problem. Also, depression can cause dissociation. Wellbutrin is a good antidepressant with fewer side effects than some of the other antidepressant medications. Give the Wellbutrin an appropriate amount to time to see if it works. That can take several weeks. If it doesn't work for you, talk with your doctor. He will determine another antidepressant for you to try. There are different types of antidepressants. Wellbutrin is considered a newer type of antidepressant. Tricyclic antidepressants are also available and works just as well. I am currently on Imipramine (generic Tofranil). This medication has worked well for me for years. There are also MAOI antidepressants. Don't give up! There is hope for your condition. Sometimes it takes several different classifications of antidepressants to try before finding the right one for your problem. If your anxiety becomes worse, talk with your doctor about prescribing an anti anxiety medication such as valium or klonopin at the lowest dosage for short term use. You will be feeling much better in no time!
