Hello dmfedele. Yes it should help. To what extent? Paxil (Paroxetine) is an SSRI. Its perscribed for several reasons/diagnosis. GAD (general anxiety disorder) is one. Its meant to be taken as perscribed, usually one dose per day. Its not effective for high stress/panic moments. The Benzodiazepine family of drugs, Xanax, Ativan to name two are used for panic attacks etc. Downside, they can become addictive and just as alcohol can be, a problem for stopping the drug when the need arrives. The Paxil will, should help ease the anxiety levels caused by the alcohol withdrwals. By how much, only the person going through the withdrawls will beable to answer. Regards, pledge
