Klonopin is a long-acting benzodiazepine (a Nitro benzo), and has a half-life of 50 hours (average). It doesn't have active metabolites and is more potent than Valium.
Valium is a very long acting benzo, and has a half-life of up to 20-100 hours (300 with it's active metabolites, of which it has many, including Temazepam and Oxazepam). It tends to work more quickly than Klonopin, but it is lipid soluble, which means it is stored in your fat cells. It is much weaker than Klonopin on a mg per mg basis.
