... want to know if I can take St johns wort, and how much. the bottle says 2 tabs 3 x a day, but is that too much since im taking the Venlafaxine?
Please, do not take the St. John's wort with the venlafaxine, at all, until you speak to your prescriber or your prescriber's representative, to recieve formal direction (s) to answer your question!
But, what I can share with you is I am an advanced practice psychiatric nurse. If you take these two drugs together, you may have a life-threatening event called "Serotonin Syndrome." Example of Serotonin Syndrome symptoms are not limited to the following: Agitation/restlessness,
dialated pupils, rapid heart rate, headache, diarrhea, Goose bumps, shivering, altered level of awareness, cognition dysfunction. Please do not talke this until you speak to your provider due to the danger of mixing these two compounds together, then ingesting them, this could truly be deadly!
