I have had anxiety for 18yrs.And I'm only 27yrs old.My anxiety is so bad that I'm afraid 2 take any mental health meds.I tried Lexapro 5mg & had a really bad experience. So that made my anxiety even worse.I'm desperate for relief. Is anyone out there like this? And if so,how do I get past my fear of meds? This anxiety disorder is so miserable.I just want 2 stop all this worring...
I have bad anxiety and I've tried many different anti-anxiety and depression medications and found that Lexapro, Buspar, Lamictal, and Prozac don't do much for me. Finally my dr. prescribed me Klonopin and that's the only one that's had a significant effect. He was hesitant because it's habit forming and you can get withdrawls. But the best thing for me was that it worked right away and you didn't have to wait for like 3 weeks for it to work. I would recommend it since it sounds like you need to feel relief soon.
Have you been to your doctor recently? That's where I'd start. He/she has a wide variety of meds you can be tried on until something works. It's understandable that you'd be anxious about meds, but it's something you're going to have to try and deal with so you can get your life back. Also, therapy works well for lots of people. I'm sure you will have a lot of people weigh in on this and give you lots of great advice. Above all, know that you can post here anytime and get feedback from lots of concerned members. I wish you well.
Hi Anonymous, I had the exact same problem for years and didn't want to try any meds. When I would try one I would quickly find a reason why I didn't like it, and this would just fortify my fear of trying another one. Believe me, I know how horrible it is to live with sadness/anxiety. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that trying meds to help this affiction would be far better than living with in constant anguish! I would try the excellent advice given by the two people who responded before myself. I sincerely hope you find the help you need, keemo7
