i was on birth control for about 8 months and i had really bad depression and anxiety. i stopped taking the birth control May 26, 2017 and i still don't fee 100% myself. I've read a lot of stories about girls getting depressed and anxious because of Birth Control and saying that it took them about 3 + months to feel themselves again. Is this true? I know it takes your cycle a few months to go back to normal but does that also affect your anxiety/depression? I have been feeling way better since I stopped but sometimes the anxiety gets the best of me.
Hi, I feel your pain. I was on Lutera for 8 months & felt my depression getting worse each month. I already have anxiety & depression, and unfortunately have not found an antidepressant that works for me. I stopped taking the pills about 1 1/2 months ago. I started feeling better in about 2 weeks. Except for the massive headaches I've had are now worse. Any hormonal bc causes depression in over 30% of people. I would check with your doctor but since you didn't have anxiety/depression before the bc pills I would bet your body is still readjusting. It's possible your doctor may give you something for the anxiety that you can take only when needed to get you through. Best of luck !
