I get really bad stomach aches when I have to go anywhere like down the shops or to mandatory dr appointments and it feels like my stomach is turning or like I have a knot in my stomach has anyone had any experience with anything like this and if so how did you get over it?
Are you seeing a psychiatrist? It sounds like your particular anxiety disorder is agoraphobia. I have it too. Mine doesn't seem quite as severe, but I can definity relate. I get the same symptoms you described. I have been helped by seeing my psychiatrist regularly and medication helps a lot. I take Effexor XR (venlafaxine) 300mg/day and Klonopin (clonazepam) 1mg three times daily. I still have symptoms but they are reduced a lot.
I agree. Sounds like a particular anxiety rather than a generalized one. My anxiety rears itsself in many physical forms aswell. Aches, pains, nausea, dizziness. I drive all over the city for work and being trapped in traffic terrifies me to the point where I ask to be kept in a certain part of town so I don't stray too far from home, or have to be stuck in traffic. Not sure if you are, but be honest and open with your doctor. There r things that can help you and you are not alone. Good luck :)
Hi. I have a fairly general anxiety myself with many physical manifestations. Mine is secondary to multiple sclerosis. I do not like taking medication at all, however, I'm very open with my doctor b/c I want to enjoy my friends and family. I take 2 medications for mine, 1 to maintain and the other if I find myself needing to do things that heighten my anxiety.
The important thing is talking to your doctor or therapist, set a goal, and work your way towards it. Baby steps usually are good, don't rush it. It may be something you can overcome through therapy (one you comfortable with) and/or medication if you and your therapist decide that is best.
