I'm just confused how I'm supposed to take them together I see they have a mild interaction I'm also on mecizine for vertigo- I hate taking medicines together so if someone could help that'd be great
Start the lexapro. Once its in your system you shouldn't need the xanax, but until then you will probably have anxiety and need to take them. It can take 4-6 weeks until lexapro is at full effect. You can take them together or you can take them a few hours apart, it won't make a difference. You may feel a little drowsy at first.
I agree with kaismama, it may make you a bit drowsy. What time are you supposed to take your Lexapro? What time do you usually get anxious?
If you take your Lexapro at night, take your first Xanax during the day, but on a day when you are not driving, just so you know how you feel on it, it can cause dizziness in some people at first. But once your body adjusts, you shouldn't feel dizzy any longer. Xanax works great on anxiety.
If you added what time you are prescribed all of your medications it would greatly help others to answer your question, just a friendly tip. I would think that the Xanax is prn, or as needed, right?
Hope you are feeling better very soon,
I also have a prescription for both Lexapro and Xanax. I take the Lexapro daily, and take Xanax on a need based basis. If I'm having a rough day or feel a panic attack coming on, I take the Xanax. It's fine to take them together, but Xanax clouds my judgement a little so I don't like to take it daily. That's just me though, I don't know what your doc said
