... hard time keeping myself away from my X. this causes alot of extra stress and anxiety, anyone have any tips? i moved into my own apartment, still with same job, i think i may have some kind of fear of being alone or something, but i really need these changes to work for me to better my future! any one have a similar situation they survived, Please help!
First I would suggest getting a really good therapist to help you deal with your PTSD issues. It sounds like you are trying to move on, but that move forward is causing you additional stress. It is possible to be afraid of being alone, but you may be having what is known as co-dependency issues; again, a therapist could help with that. It seems like you are doing all of the right things, so don't second guess yourself. It IS difficult to move on; sometimes it is harder for some than others. The other thing I would suggest is getting out and trying to meet new people; become involved in social groups, clubs, even singles groups at churches. Realize that being alone sometimes isn't the real issue; sometimes it could be the fear (anxiety) of having to put yourself out there again to find another person. Again, a therapist would be able to help you with that. Hope this helps and please feel free to post again whenever you need to.
I can relate with you. I also went through something similar with my ex, It's very hard to get over the anxiety and stress, as for myself, I am going to counseling and seeing the psychiatrist once a month. She prescribed celexa, then prozad,but that didn't work for me. So, now I'm taking paxil and trazadone, and is working for me. Thank God. Maybe you should try to seek counseling and see how that works for you. Beside the anxiety and stress I also get palpitaiton and panic attacks, and not easu. But like I said before after a year of counseling, I am feeling much better. There is a lot of help out there. I wish you all the luck, and stay strong.
