It was hard to per and I had sudden urges to per and it was a week be for I could go to doctors and find out I have a UTI. I just started taking antibiotics yesterday and was starting to per normally. I still had sex even though I just started my antibiotics and now it hurts more than ever and my stomach right under my ribs feel like there's pressure. What should I do?
Don’t confuse UTI with a bladder infection. Concern yourself with a kidney infection. Chronic kidney infections (pyelonephritis) can cause serious kidney infections.
I assume your doctor sent the urine specimen for a culture and sensitivity?
This is what will tell the doctor exactly which organism you have AND which antibiotic is most sensitive to that organism.
I’m not as concerned about the pain being worse because you have just started the antibiotic.
What concerns me is the pain in your upper abdomen. Usually keep kidney pain is located over the flank area on your back. However, you could be having kidney pain.
What is important is a fever. Pyelo is notorious for high fevers. At that point it’s usually a need for hospitalization for IV antibiotics.
You need to call your doctor and give him an update. It takes 48 hours to get the full C & S results. Knowing you are having problems, he will know to keep an eye out for the results ASAP. He may change your antibiotics based on those results.
In the meantime :
Drink lots of water and cranberry juice 8-10 glasses a day.
Check your temp.
Rest in bed if possible.
Take the antibiotics exactly as directed. Take it within the same hour as you did the previous day. Going an extra 2-3 hours AFTER it was due causes the bacteria time to grow so the antibiotic will not be as effective.
Stop having sex until this is under control.
Make sure to pee after having sex.
This helps clear any organisms that entered through the urethra from the friction caused by sex.
Women should always do this as a routine.
I hope this helps.
Call your doc!
