Not finishing your medication when you feel better and using old "left over"medication that was not finished after the infection it was originally prescribed for is one of the MAJOR causes for antibiotic resistance! If you start on one antibiotic and the Dr changes you to another then you should throw out that medication once your infection is resolved (just in case your Dr wants you to finish it at some point but usually the reason for changing antibiotics is because the first one wasnt working against the type of infection you have) If you have already used part of a prescription then there is not enough to "save for another infection" because antibiotics must be prescribed in a specific amount for a specific time or they do not work correctly. You MUST get a new prescription each time you have an infection even though you think it may be the same kind of infection. Do not save antibiotics!
