I have been looking after a girl who has been fighting a cross drug addiction. She's 19 and been using drugs since the age of 14. When her father abandoned the family, the mother began using aderal and giving them to her daughter. Since, this girl has managed to get a doctors script and is taking aderal. She's fighting many other issues ,bulimia, depresstion, cutting, and she has been raped. We've tried everything from rehab to therapy but she can't follow through with anything. I truly believe if I could convince her to get off the aderal, and on a anti depressant, it would save her. If not, is there any anti depressants that would not interact with adderal?
My sister took adderal with antidepressants, your best Bet is For her to let someone go into see doc with her. and for her to agree, they can't help if she won't take them, plus antidepressants are tricky at that age, I had my daughter go on Zoloft as a teen and it made her suicidal. Just be Careful Good bless and please keep posted. I know what it was like to be a troubled teen, I wish I had intervention my younger years could have been so different,
There are many antidperessants to try which could be taken along with Adderal. Sounds like someone needs to alert the prescribing doctor of the issues. A psychiatrist would be best. Adderal must be written for just one month at a time so contacting the doctor before the next script is written would be your best bet.
Hi, i am so sorry to hear what this girl has gone through. I can really sympathise with her, i have walked in her shoes. Does she see a psychiatrist? Has she been given a psychiatric diagnosis? I can't recommend the antidepressant i take as it interacts with the Adderall, but a medication that can be added safely is Pregabalin (Lyrica). It is used for GAD (general anxiety disorder). I have been taking it along side my other medications for several months now and it has a calming effect & improves my confidence in social situations. Another Medication i would recommend, but can only be prescribed by a psychiatrist if he thinks it will be beneficial, and that is Seroquel. It is an antipsychotic - but don't let that put you off, it is used for more than one reason.
There is a 'moderate' interaction risk if you were to take the 3 together, but from the sounds of it, the benefits outweigh the risks. I really hope this girl gets the help she needs! If you, or her want ever to talk privately, i will add you to my friends list, add me back & i'll try to answer any questions you have or just give support. Wishing you both well!
