my mom(43yrs) was diagnosed with hyperthyroid 3days back, when she took a TSH test , the TSH value being 7.5, which is out of reference range. the doc prescribed her eltroxin( thyroxine sodium) and tryptomer in the day and escigress CZ (escitolapram with clonazepam ) at night. i wanna know why the doc has prescribed anti-depressants for a thyroid disorder?
Why on earth would you increase thyroxine (t4) for an over active thyroid gland sufferer? to much (t4). Standard treatment is Methimazole in the US. The doctors an idiot. And yes he did prescribe anti-depressants... is he even registered. I am a student health advisor not a doctor but even I know that what was prescribed sounds dubious!
