... foods to eat. I get bad reactions swelling of lips, Mouth & face. I dont know what to do. I take 2 antihistamines per day and use Prednisolone when I have attacks , I have had all allergy tests done proving nothing. But yet the foods still add to my histamine levels.
i have it now since march;; i have a allergy pen-several with adrenaline in it--so that if i have a episode of breathing, swelling, anything else i have back-up--i was on prednisone and benedryll 50mg every 6 hours i was taking it since last friday ive been ok, i stay under airconditioner-i keep myself cool, i drink more clear liquids, i make sure by bowels are moving properly, every thing eaten i await for reaction before tingling, itching, bumps, hives, i am awaiting an appointment for allergy testing, i take diabetic meds, water pill, nothing xtra until i know what category of allergies i am in,,i need blood pressure meds--but i told my doc not another of your pills until i am tested, i stay from outside as much as possible-only if i have to,
otherwise i put myself at risks for another attack--my last attack put me in the intensive care unit--- so look at your current medications -take each one and wait make sure you pay close attention to signs--like my neck was feeling tight for 4 days i really thought it was a muscle issue, like i slept wrong it was causing a lot of pain and nervousness, because of the nervousness --- i knew it was a reaction to something--took it yesterday and the thing left me- very little residue left so i will take the benedryll later tonight--but this angioedema thing creeps up on you... watch it carefully--- so this is my experience in dealing with this thing--if your benedryll does not stop the reaction use the epipen--it stops everything and open you up immediately as if you never had the attack--- remember it is life threatening--- so take care--wish you the best as you move along with this angioedema... or annaphyllaxis--also dont hesitate in going to the ER you may need the Oxygen, or the steriod IV to help you out, i'll go in a minute--- so take care as for your foods --keep it simple--taste and wait--get the eppic pen--write your foods and your meds someting is still in your blood causing trouble--docs cant help unless they know everything so you gotta know about the foods your eating--the antihistimines may not be the right combination--truthfully i would run back to the ER show them all your meds--- and tell them the current meds are not stopping the reactions --they have to change them and stop this thing... vtech10
I have have the hereditory angioedema condition and suffered the same as yourself and since being prescribed Danazol 1 100mg tablet twice a day I have been 99% free from the symptoms. If I get some symptoms then I can up the dosage to a maximum of 8 tablets per day. The symptoms usually slows down and stops and it is gone within 24/48hrs.
The main thing that sets off my symptoms is cut flowers especially Lillies and Hiacyinth, although I do not have any plants in the house now to be safe I have all fake plants. It is strange as I can do gardening and have lots of flowers out there, but if I can smell a strong scent from certain flowers I do move away just in case.

Another symptom I have is very bad stomach aches sickness and dia etc this was caused by bread, not the wheat/flour but the strong yeast they use to make bread. I eat as little bread as possible now. I take Magnesium Trisicilate mixture for this. It clears it up within a few hours.
I do hope this information will help you. I am 52 now and have suffered with this condition since I was about 11
Hi, I know how you are feeling. My son has gone through the same thing and he is 23.. You have to put yourself on a low amine diet, it is a pretty plain diet. You can find the foods that are high in amine & a list of low amine foods on the internet..These foods are also low in histamine.
You need to get of prednisolone as this drug is only a short fix and does have side afftects. My son took 2 antihistamines per day.. he took the once a day tablet morning and night..Zyrtec
This diet has a good effect, but unfortunately it didn't work real well for him.. He was having reactions 3-4 times per week. He then went on a trial drug for 6 mths called Xolair, he was lucky enough to get on the trial and it had a great result. But it is hard to get on the trial. Please try the diet first as I recommended it to another person and it has worked for them..
