... be getting worse. On low dose effexor for hot flashes as higher dose affected BP. Should I try different antidepressent? Used to take Prozac yrs. ago. I am 69. Thanks for any suggestions! Stage two, masectomy, four doses chemo, no lympnodes.
It’s good if your Effexor has helped some. You could switch antidepressants or try something like an antipsychotic such as abilify. A drug like abilify would be added to your Effexor in a low dose. Also, you’re going through a lot right now. Be patient with your mind and body. Advocate for yourself but don’t be too hard on yourself either. It could be quite beneficial to speak with a therapist. I was a caregiver once and I know my father had thoughts and feelings he felt like he couldn’t share with us. It’s goid to have someone you can be fully and completely you to.
Hello Irish Rose. I too have had problems with depression while dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis. I actually take Lexapro 20 for anxiety and Wellbutrin 150 for depression. I'm actually tolerating me quite well . I even lost a little bit of weight . I'm on a very low dose and it seems to control the depression and anxiety. Good luck.
