... as well?
It may well have depending on what type of infection you had. Amoxicillin isn't effective on anything but bacteria, and not all bacteria. If you had a viral or yeast infection or trichomonas it wouldn't have helped. The problem with women taking antibiotics is that ALL bacteria tend to die, the good and the bad. Once so many bacteria are gone, they leave more room for yeast or something else to overgrow and become an infection. I always have a yeast infection medicine ready if I take an antibiotic and I avoid antibiotics like crazy. In order to repopulate your whole gastrointestinal tract from your mouth to your urinary tract and stool elimination areas, you need a probiotic with active cultures to restore your good bacteria and restore the normal flora (bacteria and yeast) balance. Yogurt is helpful before, during treatment and after an infection.
Probiotics are bought over-the-counter in drug stores, near pharmacies and on the internet. I like Puritan's Pride because of all the variety available.
