My doctor wants me to try this after trying several other anti depressants without success because of bad side effects. I have panic attacks, anxiety and depression. I am also super sensitive to all medications. I am scared spitless to take it and I am having a panic attack just thinking about it. It just seems like too much of a risk even though I desperately need some relief. Thanks. JJ
This medication sounds like it may do the trick for you, yet as km has said, just discontinue if you don't like amoxapine. It affects serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine as many tricyclic antiD's do. You will adjust to any minor side effects quickly and with ease, I'm pretty certain, and if not you can try another antidepressant.
This medication can help panic attacks as well as depression. I took a tricyclic years ago and was benefitted greatly! : )
Fear not, your doctor knows what she/he is doing. You will probably be titrated up in the dose, starting at a small dose and going upward in milligrams.
Would you please let us know how it goes, when you get up the courage to try it? Be courageous, give amoxapine a try! The best incentive to try a new med is how horrible one feels while in the grips of clinical depression, I've been there before, so you are NOT alone, JJ.
