I am a 63 year old female. I have ranaulds, fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy and arthritis what is the maximum amount of gabapentin that can be taken in a 24 hour period? can it be taken with tramadol and what is the maximum amount of tramadol that can be taken?
I also have fibromyalgia and in the past I took gabapentin and tramadol simultaneously. My highest dosage on gabapentin was 3600 mg a day which I was later told was over the max, which is 1800 mg a day. I personally experienced difficulty urinating, numbness of feet and hands, breakouts on my face, and developed carpal tunnel. Not sure if drug caused carpal tunnel but it oddly developed after I stopped working as a cad drafter. I voluntarily stopped that drug. I was also on the max dose of tramadol, 400 mg a day and 15 mg a day of morphine as needed, 3 max a day. Due to recent changes in drug laws, my dr took me off both tramadol and morphine and we're still trying to figure out what will work. Tramadol is recommended for fibro, it also has antidepressant properties which was a bonus for me. Gabapentin is sort of the cousin to Lyrica which is specifically for fibro. I tried Lyrica 450mg and it was great for my pain but I was falling asleep mid-activity, sleepwalking, and sort of blacking out so I stopped. I would still recommend it pain wise as not everyone experiences the same side effects. Good luck!
