I'm a 20 year old male and I started taking Amnestem about a month ago. I took 30mg for the first month and now I'm taking 60mg a day for the second month. My fiance and I decided we wanted to have a baby together in the next couple of weeks and I know this medicine can cause serious birth defects and possibly death. I haven't read anything about Amnestem being transferred through semen or anything like that, but would we be able to have a baby since it just says 'women that can become pregnant" or would it be better to wait on having a baby until after the treatment?
In the US, it is mandatory for a woman to be on 2 forms of birth control if using this med and if it is a male taking it, his partner is supposed to be taking 2 forms of birth control. NO, it is not safe to start a family while you are on this medication, even if you are male. Please don't risk having a baby with birth defects, it definitely can cause them. Patti
