I have ibs-d with bouts of constipation. I've read people with ibs-d and ibs-c have used this but a side effect is constipation. Is this meant for use with a patient with ibs-c?
I have ibs-d and take this medication with great success but wouldn't think that it would be so good for those who have some constipation. The odd time I do get constipated all I need to do is eat an orange and things are working again. In fact if I eat an orange two days in a row I then have the d again even with the amitriptyline so unless your constipation is easily resolved I wouldn't think it would be a good choice.
Of course I'm not a doctor or anything but that is my experience with it.
Take care of you
