Pain dr prescribed amatriptaline elvil for me last Thursday , and I have had an increase in my neuropathic pain anyone else experienced this and did it settle down , my pain dr is on holiday and o is my reg dr o can't ask them .
No I did not have any increase in pain when I started Amitriptyline. It did take a few weeks to help with the pain but no increase.
I just started amitriptyline (for the second time) and have not noticed an increase in my neuropathy, which is truly horrifying. I do notice I sleep better taking 25mgs, and a dried up gob, very dry mouth, do you have the same?
As Lady has indicated, and I must concur, it takes a while for it to work on pain. Hang in there, I'll bet we both will begin feeling a bit better taking amitrip.
IF the pain is still worse after two weeks, contact your doctor. I've never heard of this before, yet we are all so different, that what may make your pain worse may just make mine better and vice versa. Neuropathy must be very difficult to treat, I have felt like a guinea pig at times, because of trying so many different medications.
I wish you the best,
