Just started this drug for nerve pain and as an adjunct to Ciprolex (SSRI) for anxiety. Does anyone have experience to share about how long it takes for daytime drowsiness to wear off? Also has anyone tried any strategies to compensate for the drowsiness side effect while my body gets used to this drug? Please share your experiences or any suggestions you may have. Thanks!
I was prescribed amitriptyline for chronic migraine did not work for my migraines but it did help with sleeping when I first started amitriptyline my pharmacist recommended that I take my dose around supper time 5-8 pm he said it would probably make me very drowsy so I took his buyers my dosage was 50 mg for three days and then up to 100 mg I actually found it was very potent and made me extremely drowsy. Almost to the point where I almost didn’t make it to my bed that’s how hard it knocked me out which is unusual as I have a high tolerance for any medications.
I found it wore off about three weeks in and I found that I could pick my amitriptyline at night around bedtime and not being absent zombie next day.
Three months and I could take my amitriptyline and it would not cause drowsiness at all
One side effect is high peak of food cravings.
