Is amitriptyline used for cholestrol?

No way. Did someone prescribe it for you for that? It is an anti-depressant.

Amitriptyline is primarily an antidepressant but it is used "offlabel" for sleep and pain conditions like chronic pain and neuropathy. It is also used for anxiety with depression but I have NEVER seen it for cholesterol. It has no effect at all on cholesterol levels. If you are on multiple meds and you were wondering which one was for cholesterol-this one is not it! If you want to know which one is, you can list your meds and kaismama or I will tell you which one is for cholesterol.

Do you have fibromyalgia? That is the only other time that I have seen amiltriptaline used except for depression. I think you need to talk to your doctor about getting all your medications straight. Good luck!
