No, Amitriptyline is not subject to the Controlled Substances Act.

I have been taking amitriptylin for over 30 years. It was prescribed by a psychiatrist for symptoms of anxiety and depression. Another doctor about 10 years later raised the daily dosage to 200 mg per day, which I understand is a rather high dosage.

I believe this drug to be addictive, in that I absolutely cannot sleep without it. With respect to my depression and anxiety I feel it's useless, and I've been taking setraline (zoloft) to help with those symptoms. I've tried a couple times to reduce the amitriptylin dosage gradually, but the insomnia was absolutely unbearable. If I could go back I never would have started with amitripyline. I am a slave to this crap
